Born from the ruins of an old sanatorium, a four-star charming hotel stands at 1500 meters altitude, in the heart of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park and UNESCO World Geopark, with a stunning mountain landscape setting. Located in the Penhas Douradas mountain resort, which features unique and preserved sanatorial architecture. The Hotel, perfectly integrated into its surroundings, is inspired by local architecture and uses natural materials such as cork, which covers and externally insulates one of the buildings, or birch wood, which covers the interiors, and is founded on environmental concerns and best practices aligned with the values of the Natural Park where it is located.

Casa das Penhas Douradas has 8 marked walking trails, in partnership with the Estrela Mountain Range Natural Park that cross with municipal trails. Manteigas has over 200 km of walking trails, which include 16 short routes and 2 long routes.

With local inspirations, Casa das Penhas Douradas was rebuilt with natural materials such as cork and birch wood, with simple lines and touches of color woven by burel. A magical place that highlights the contrast between the rugged landscape and the subtlety in the details of the space.
