Casa de São Lourenço
One of the first Pousadas in Portugal, the Pousada de São Lourenço, inaugurated in 1948, dazzles us with its views: the Serra da Estrela mountain range, Manteigas, and the Glacial Valley… an absolutely innovative concept of small, very welcoming hotels. 70 years later, respecting this unique history, Casa de São Lourenço was born, focused on the beauty of the landscape, following the initial design of Architect Rogério de Azevedo, recovering the beautiful collection of Maria Keil, but giving space to the contemporary style of Portuguese designers.
A five-star hotel, as befits a mountain range full of stars… the one that was (re)opened in 2018.
The hotel is a member of the Relais & Châteaux family.

Burel Mountain Originals is more than a project; it's a lifestyle connected to the mountains, their culture, and their people. A true tourism experience in the Serra da Estrela. It all began in 2006 with our first hotel, Casa das Penhas Douradas – Burel Expedition Hotel.
In 2018, we opened our second hotel, which is also a house: Casa de São Lourenço – Burel Panorama Hotel, a revival of the former Pousada de São Lourenço.
In 2012, Burel Factory was born with the mission of preserving and regenerating industrial heritage, promoting the mastery of knowledge and the art made by many hands on ancestral machines whose sounds have been heard since the 19th century. It safeguards the legacy of wool and burel through design, art, and textile and scientific innovation, weaving together a sustainable, circular, and more authentic vision of the future with the threads of the past. And it does so out of a profound sense of commitment.
